With 386 miles of line around this fire it has been a tremendous effort. Highway 67 from jacob lake to the north rim of grand canyon national park is also closed. Forest service has closed the north kaibab ranger district. Kaibab national forest has implemented stage 2 fire restrictions. As of saturday morning the arizona department of transportation closed highway 89a from approximately marble canyon to fredonia and highway 67 to the grand canyon for public safety. Fire managers plan to focus resources on the ne section of the fire where it remains active.

Forest service has closed the entire fire area to entry. Crews utilizing water drops dozers and handline tactics will continue efforts to limit the northern section s eastward growth. Due to increased fire danger all fires including campfires warming fires and charcoal barbecues are prohibited. Businesses remain open in marble canyon and vermillion cliffs.

Water and garbage service are not provided. Bring enough water for drinking cooking and washing as well as extra water to drown campfires each day. These restrictions will remain in effect until further notice. Outdoor smoking is prohibited except in an enclosed vehicle or building.
